Aita/Ayta means “call, cry or lament” and is a Moroccan musical style that originates from the countryside of Morocco. The art of Aita in Morocco contains seven main sections are: Marsawi, Hasbawi, Hawzi, Zaari, Khribgui, Jebli, Mellali. Ayta Art is about the realities of life — about the land, nature, wars, mountains, crises and, of course, it’s about love. In short, Aita music represents the heritage of Morocco.
